Reiss, Jackson & Jamison is open for business. With the tax deadline move to July 15 by the IRS and FTB, we have decided to cut back on evening and weekend hours and have put several measures in place in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have an in box in our lobby for drop off of your tax returns and accounting information.

We still love our clients and friends, but we will practice social distancing. We'll love you from afar.

We ask that you use hand sanitizer when you arrive, and we will wipe off surfaces with Clorox Wipes between customers.

We are encouraging telephone and internet contact when ever possible.

While the deadline to file (or extend) your tax return is still April 15th, payment of taxes due the IRS have been extended to July 15th. Extensions are granted by the IRS to anyone that applies. Contact us if you need extension or filing assistance.

TAX DEADLINE INFORMATION

NEWS FLASH! THIS MORNING THE IRS ALSO EXTENDED THE TIME TO FILE 2019 TAX RETURNS TO JULY 15TH.

Normally, taxes are due by April 15 every year, unless that date falls out on a weekend or holiday, in which case it's pushed back a number of days. Filers who can't complete their taxes by April 15 can request an extension, which buys them an additional six months to submit their returns without facing a failure-to-file penalty.

Tax extensions are granted automatically; filers don't need a specific reason for needing one. But those extensions only buy them extra time to submit their returns; they don't give them extra time to pay what they owe the IRS. And usually, filers who don't pay their taxes by April 15 face interest and penalties on that debt.

This year, filers can take an extra three months to pay the IRS any amounts due. That could be a lifeline for the millions of Americans who are currently scrambling to hang onto their paychecks, or those who have already taken a hit on their income.
