Tax Season 2025 has started out to be interesting. Although the IRS opened efile earlier than it has in recent years, there are still many forms not finalized making efile not possible for many taxpayers. There are also issues with multiple state forms, mostly surrounding the “One Big Beautiful Act”. With each update forms or their instructions are becoming finalized, just not quickly this tax season. Patience is key this year.

There’s one week left in the 2023 tax season. This year has been a coaster ride. I apologize if I don’t answer right away. Don’t take any wooden nickels. If someone prepares your return, make sure their name and PTIN are listed on the return. The IRS takes a very serious position on “Ghost” preparers. The fine is steep. If you pay to have your return prepared, make sure your expert can back what was filed in an examination. If you need help, seek out an expert. If you can’t find one, seek the IRS Advocate assistance.

TT rolled this out several years back and I can’t count how many returns had to be amended due to inaccuracy. Use with extreme caution. Your return can be reviewed by a live preparer before submission for an additional fee.
