This is exactly why our firm is offering FRACTIONAL CFO services. We go beyond the tax returns and balance sheet. We understand the programs and technology. Still doing tax work. Still doing IRS representation. Stay tuned for a new look!

Budgeting, managing cashflows, improving balance sheets and taking on human resources functions are all in a day’s work for CFOs, but increasingly these gatekeepers are also in charge of artificial intelligence (AI) implementation, cybersecurity spending, insurance plan selection and more.

I can't count how many times I've received calls from clients telling me about "TikTok Tax Advice" and other social media sites (Insta, FB, etc). It is never a good idea! Always ask a pro. E S P E C I A L L Y this year with the confusing changes!

Misleading posts about credits like the fuel tax credit are landing taxpayers in trouble — with fines up to $5,000 for frivolous returns.

2025 proposed tax bill was changed and kicked back to the House. They need to agree on the changes. If the House adjusts anything further it would need to return to the Senate before going to the President.

This is a very well written, plain language article. Comment below if you have any questions or would like clarification.

The Senate passed its version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill contains many tax provisions beyond extending portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and differs from the Finance Committee version in key areas.

With all the jawing going on with government accountability, the latest posting I'm seeing states the IRS is "closing 110 offices". This is the news outlets playing into the hands of the manipulation of social media.

They are insinuating the IRS is laying off employees located in those offices. By in large, those offices are near empty or vacant. It makes fiscal sense to close them. Why pay/rent/own office space that is empty?

With COVID, the IRS had to rebuild themselves and their computer security to allow remote work. The IRS computers are an island, meaning no one can communicate via email or file transmission directly to the IRS unless your are licensed to transmit tax returns. And, at that, my understanding is there are minimal pipelines this information flows through in order to keep data as secure as possible.

Employees were set up to work remotely with their own intranet.

Next, the IRS, in an effort to modernize their computer systems have created the next best thing since sliced bread - the ability for licensed tax preparers to access taxpayer records with the proper legal authority (power of attorney form, etc). This has significantly cut down on the number of employees needed in basic areas of the IRS. It works well and kudos to them for doing this. I no longer need to call and wait (sometimes hours) online for the IRS representative to pull a transcript. I can pull it myself.

Regarding the IRS letting 7,000 employees go - there must be attrition! Just be cause you work for the government doesn't mean you don't suck at your job!

If you have ever had to deal with the IRS on a regular basis, you would understand. There are good and bad representatives. Often times I've had to use my 40 years experience to help an IRS representative look in the right places to answer my question.

Lastly, when they announced they were hiring 87,000 new employees, the press neglected to point out that back in the 90's, there was a hiring freeze put in place by President Clinton. Those people are ready to retire! The 87k was to replace them.

Stop picking on government employees. It's time for the turnover.

Yes, we are all going a little nuts here in NJ with this Drone drama but take a moment to watch and follow the advice of this report. Albeit it this CNN report is 10 yrs old, I can only imagine how much more sophisticated technology has gotten!

Hackers have installed snooping technology on a UAV and sent it flying around London. Laurie Segall reports.
