Hello everyone. Well we are trying to wrap up 2016. It was a complicated year, physically draining. Naturally being in Charlotte County we lost some dear friends, but gained some new ones.

This summer we are trying to get caught up, possibly making some changes in the practice, doing somethings at home and trying to find time to visit the grandchildren.

For those of you who know about being a CPA, this was my year to catch up on my Continuing Education requirements. I was able to accomplish that by June 30. Now I'm trying to get set up for 2017. We are setting up a computer protection service which will protect us from the pranksters in the real world and provide backup to all our files. It is not inexpensive but should provide a safe environment for all the data.

Striving to complete tax season 2015. The Affordable Care Act certainly added a great deal of complexity to this years returns. Some clients won, some clients lost, but very few were appreciative of the added requirements.

Tax season 2015 is here. If you have health insurance, a new form 1095 will be sent to you from your employer or whomever provided the insurance coverage. There are multiple forms, government agencies are providing 1095-C, private companies are providing 1095-B.

Be sure to give this form to your tax preparer.
