Are you aiming for self-actualization on Maslow's hierarchy of needs? As Tim Ferriss points out in the very well-written article, that shouldn't be your focus.

“We cannot reason ourselves out of our basic irrationality. All we can do is to learn the art of being irrational in a reasonable way.” — Aldous Huxley, Island It was cold out, but none of us were cold. I sat with five men in the mountains of Montana. As the sun set, the fire […]

Before you hit "submit" on your 2025 income taxes, ask yourself: what can of legacy am I leaving if my financial life continues on its current path?

Inheritance can be both a blessing and a curse. Money can either create opportunity OR dependency. It can also build responsibility OR quietly erode it.

Do you think there is such a thing as too much inheritance? Please comment below!

How much inheritance is too much? It's not just about money.

The values you pass on and habits your children develop are equally important.

Does serving as a Catholic financial planner ever feel lonely?

Catholic Financial Planners Network is holding its first in-person gathering in a suburb of St. Louis on Friday, May 15th, 2026, and we'd like you to be part of it!

Members and non-members are welcome, although members receive a substantial $100 discount.

Not only will you benefit from a greater sense of community, but you'll also hear from each member of our leadership team. Topics range from emotional attachment to money to minimizing taxes with Holistiplan.

We're keeping the event small and intimate this first go-around, so there are no corporate sponsors or vendors ... just other financial advisors who want to put their faith into practice.

Details and tickets can be purchased here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/catholic-financial-planners-network-gathering-tickets-1982048828401?aff=oddtdtcreator

One of the hardest truths in marriage (and really life) is that you cannot control other people. You can't control your spouse's choices, how they handle money, or even how they respond to stress.

And although that feels frustrating, you can control how you show up.

Grief coach Nichole Haugen offers an important reminder in this Beyond Budgets podcast clip: each person brings their unique perspective to a relationship, including financial baggage.

No two people will ever be perfectly aligned.

But that doesn't mean your relationship is broken. It simply means you're human :-)

Have you ever tried to make lasting change?

Small, incremental steps are much more effective than one giant leap.

Although our passion is family financial planning and investment management for faith-filled parents, we still have a fair share of ongoing clients who utilize our tax compliance services. We're ahead of schedule, and it feels so good!

Last year, we didn't e-file any individual tax returns until after the S Corporation and Partnership tax deadline of March 15th. This year, we've already e-filed two individual tax returns.

What's one small, incremental step you can take today towards your personal financial goals? Please share in the comments!

Grief changes the way your brain works.

Not just your heart. Not just your emotions.
Your actual thinking patterns.

After losing someone you love, your brain goes into protection mode. It scans for danger. It replays scenarios. It tries to prevent more pain.

That anxiety you feel?
That panic during random moments?
That sense of being “on edge”?

You’re not broken.

In this short clip from Beyond Budgets®, grief coach and hospice nurse Nichole Haugen explains why moving from panic to steadiness takes intentional work. This is especially important if you’re:

• Parenting while grieving
• Supporting a spouse through loss
• Holding everything together for your family
