How We Came to be

Rhode Island has been home to public accounting firm Piccerelli Gilstein & Company, LLP (PG&Co) for over 45 years. Alan Gilstein (1943-2008) and William (Bill) Piccerelli co-founded the firm on December 1, 1973 with the goal to become a sustainable, quality, independent CPA firm known for its integrity and commitment to clients. We choose downtown Providence, Rhode Island, because of its convenient accessibility to Massachusetts, Connecticut and, of course, Rhode Island marketplaces.

While much has changed in downtown Providence since we opened our doors, the firm has also experienced its own transformations. We’ve expanded the two-man partnership into one of the leading independent accounting firms in the region, providing a larger breadth of services to meet the ever-expanding needs of its clients, some of whom have been with the firm for more than four decades.

Regardless of changes, the firm’s goals remain the same. Our leaders are passionate and committed to valued relationships with clients, staff and community partners. We also continue to stand by our decision to remain independent, which we believe provides clients with the accessibility to leadership, while giving us the flexibility to make key decisions quickly and easily on your behalf, as well as for our business.
