Today is Shelly's last day at The Business Guides! While she doesn't often wear fairy lights, she has worn many hats over the last seven years, advising business owners, onboarding new clients, and taking the lead on education and outreach.

Our annual education event yesterday was a smashing success! "Wrap Up Your Books for 2024" was attended by 20 professional bookkeepers in the morning and more than 20 clients in the afternoon.

We offer these classes every December, to share best practices for year-end bookkeeping. We love the synergy of the group Q&A. And we just love seeing everyone in person!

Boo! BOI reporting is not a trick. It's a new federal requirement for businesses with registered entities (Inc, LLC, PLLC, etc.).

BOI = Beneficial Ownership Information, and it must be reported for your business by Jan. 1st!

A Great Horned Owl recently spotted at Kah Tai Lagoon by firm owner Sarah Hadlock and her husband Justin was the first one ever reported on eBird at that location. How cool is that?

We enjoyed our annual hot dog lunch outing on the final week that Dogs-A-Foot is open. And soaked up the warm October sun.

Five years with Sarah at the helm! The Business Guides has been serving small businesses (primarily S-Corps) and their owners in Washington State for just over 30 years now, so ALL the fingers add up to that incredible legacy. 😉

But this week we're celebrating Sarah's journey to full ownership of our tax advisory firm. In 2019, Sarah Hadlock, CPA, CEPA, CFP® (at far right), bought the business from the founder, not knowing a worldwide pandemic was just ahead.

Under her leadership, The Business Guides weathered that storm and is continually improving to meet the future--and the needs of our clients--head on.

It's a short workweek, since our office is closed today for the Juneteenth holiday.

Then we're diving into our summer tax filing season, and creating Tax Year 2024 packages of bundled tax and advisory services for our clients.
