Every March 8th, the world comes together to celebrate the remarkable women who have shaped our world, honor the progress made toward gender equality, and recognize the work that still lies ahead for women - ALL women.

As the year draws to a close, we want to share our hope that this holiday season brings each of you time to recharge with the people who matter most. And please remember: self care is not selfish: letting ourselves recharge is the only way we can help others. You cannot pour from an empty jug!

December will be over before we know it, so we’re sharing an urgent reminder about annual required minimum distributions. Take a look below at key information for Americans who are 73 years or older:

🔹If you turned 73 in 2025, you have until April 2026 to take your first distribution. However, you will need to take your second distribution by December 31, 2026. Taking both in 2026 could have negative tax impacts. Discuss the best course of action with your financial advisor.

🔹If you’re age 74 or older, the IRS requires you to take an RMD from certain retirement accounts by December 31st.

🔹Applicable accounts include: Traditional IRAs, SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, and 457(b)s. However, the IRS does not require RMDs from Roth IRAs, Roth 401(k)s, or Roth 403(b)s while the account holder is living.

🔹Missing the deadline could result in a penalty of 25% of the RMD amount and 10% if corrected within two years for IRAs.

If charitable giving is part of your tax strategy or estate plan, now is the time to act. To ensure your donations count toward your 2025 tax return, here are a few important reminders before the December 31st deadline:

✅ Cash or check donations should be delivered in person or mailed early enough to ensure they’re received and receipted by the nonprofit by December 31st. Online donations must be submitted by midnight on December 31st.
✅ Gifts of appreciated securities may take longer to process, so coordination with custodians or brokers must occur well in advance.
✅Contributions to donor-advised funds must also be finalized before year-end.
