The IRS 401(k) contribution limit for 2024 has increased to $23,000, up from $22,500 in 2023. Those 50 and older can contribute an additional $7,500 in 2024, for a total amount of $30,500. Make sure you increase your paycheck deductions if needed to reach the maximum contribution limit.

The Social Security Administration has announced its cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2024. This is designed to help Social Security recipients keep up with inflation. This year’s increase is smaller than the 8.7% increase in 2023, but it’s still a welcome boost.

What does this mean for you?

If you’re receiving your Social Security benefit, you’ll see an increase in your benefits starting in January 2024. The exact amount of your increase will depend on your individual benefit amount. This means the average monthly benefit will go up from $1,797 to $1,855.
