🕊️ HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY TO COOLIO! 🎂🎤

Born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. on August 1, 1963, Coolio became one of the most recognizable voices of 1990s hip-hop.

Before the braids, the wild personality and the worldwide fame, Coolio spent years building his name within the Los Angeles rap scene. His breakthrough arrived with the feel-good classic “Fantastic Voyage,” but everything changed in 1995 when he released “Gangsta’s Paradise.”

The powerful song became an international anthem, topped the charts and earned Coolio the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. Yet his musical legacy went far beyond one record. Songs like “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)” and “C U When U Get There” helped define an unforgettable era. He also introduced himself to a younger generation by performing the iconic theme song for Kenan & Kel.

Coolio passed away on September 28, 2022, at only 59 years old—but his music still transports us directly back to the days of cassette tapes, music-video countdowns and ’90s house parties.

Today, Coolio would have celebrated his 63rd birthday.

🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DJ SPINDERELLA! 🎧🔥

Today we celebrate Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper, the woman who proved that the DJ booth was never just a man’s world!

As the legendary DJ behind Salt-N-Pepa, Spinderella helped create the soundtrack to an entire generation. From “Push It” and “Shoop” to “Whatta Man” and “None of Your Business,” her skills on the turntables brought energy, style and undeniable flavor to some of hip-hop’s most unforgettable records.

Spinderella joined the group as a teenager and became one of the most visible and influential women DJs in hip-hop history. She wasn’t standing quietly in the background—she was cutting, scratching and commanding the stage alongside one of the most successful female rap groups of all time.

Today, we honor a true hip-hop pioneer who inspired generations of girls to step behind the turntables and take control of the music.
