The IRS is NOT trying to throw you in jail — BUT...
This is what happens when you ignore them long enough🤦🏾♀️
I came across a case today that made me stop mid-scroll.
A business owner in Virginia was sentenced to six years in prison for not sending payroll taxes to the IRS👀
And before anybody panics, let me tell you the part most people don’t know:
-The IRS does NOT start with jail.
-They don’t open with threats.
-They don’t open with shutting your business down.
Why?
Because incarcerated people can’t pay,
and a closed business doesn’t pay either.
Their first move is always compliance:
Letters.
Notices.
Warnings.
Payment options.
Chance after chance after chance.
But when you keep ignoring them…
When you don’t respond…
When you’re withholding taxes and not sending them in…
When they’ve exhausted every possible option…
That’s when situations like this happen💣
The reality is
Most people don’t get in trouble because they’re being "shady" or greedy.
They get in trouble because they’re overwhelmed, scared, or trying to juggle too much without proper support.
So let me be clear about who I’m talking to:
📢If you owe $25,000 or more, and you know you need to get ahead of this…
