**in the form of "Good Morning, Vietnam"**

GOOOOOOOD AFTERNOOOOON TAXPAYERS!!

The start to the 2021 Tax Year filing season is just around the corner (less than a week away!), and you all know the drill this time of year; you're watching your mailbox (or, these days, your inbox), looking for those pesky tax forms that you know you've got to bring to us in order to get that whole tax return thngy handled. You're probably bored by this, at best, but we're excited!

Welp, your (very excited) friendly neighborhood Social Media Intern wanted to chime in with a reminder to look out for (AND BRING) two new important pieces of paper that will help us TREMENDOUSLY in making sure you get your refunds in as timely a fashion as possible: The 6419 and 6475 Letters, which will have **critical** information about any Advance Child Tax Credits or Economic Impact Payments (aka them STIMMYs) that you may have received, respectively, in 2021.

PLEASE DO NOT DISCARD THESE LETTERS, IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED THEM. Hold on to them and be sure to bring them to us when you set up your appointments, because without the accurate information as reflected on them, your refunds could be DELAYED for UNTOLD amounts of time.

And, if any of you were at all touched by the delays in processing that are going on at the IRS, your Social Media Intern is VERY sure that you do NOT want a repeat of that experience again!

So, be sure you've gone through all your mail and located each of these Letters, if you have received them. Just remember:

**to the tune of "It Don't Mean A Thing [If it Ain't Got That Swing]"**

DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR 6419!!

(DON'T WORRY, I'VE GOT TONS OF CORNY RHYMES LIKE THAT FOR NEARLY EACH AND EVERY IRS FORM, BECAUSE I'M SURE YOU JUST ASKED YOURSELF IF I DO OR NOT! 🤣😭🤣😭🤣)

COVID Tax Tip 2022-03, January 5, 2022 — The IRS started issuing information letters to advance child tax credit recipients in December. Recipients of the third round of the Economic Impact Payments will begin receiving information letters at the end of January.

**looks up from the computer, pleasantly surprised**

oh, hey, it's you!

I guess if you're here, reading this, then it's getting to be that time of year, all over again!

And if I, your humble Social Media Intern, am sitting here typing this, that means that somehow, I've survived the Pandemic, and am still here doing the wonderful work of reaching out to all of you to get you ready for the upcoming tax season!

And let me be super clear here: if you've filed any kind of tax return over the last couple of years--with us or elsewhere--you probably already know that tax season has become more complex, frustrating, and immersive than it has EVER been before!

We here at Cavanaughs are looking forward to helping you get through this time of year with as little stress and confusion as possible. We're glad to have survived and lasted through the tough times that have come as a result of the Pandemic, and we're truly honored to be here for you, our loyal clients!

The IRS has announced that they will open up the 2021 season for electronic filers on Monday, 1/24/2022.

However, PLEASE be advised that there will immediately be delays in processing and administering refunds that stem from prior year legislation, AND from COVID-related staffing issues. We ask you to PLEASE BE PATIENT, right from the gate, when it comes to waiting for refunds or correspondence to issued/answered by the IRS!

Yet and still, we are beginning to ramp up our software and our services, so feel free to reach out to Suzannewilley Cavanaugh at (267) 343 4622 to start schedule your appointments!

Happy Tax Season, one and all!

So the social media intern just wants you all to know that this past week, in particular, has been the "10 minutes into giving a lecture and realizing you're naked" nightmare that anyone who has ever tried to manage social media for a business will have every now and then. it's just been...brought to actual waking life, and multiplied by about a billion times.

Information has been released and changed and amended and re-evaluated so much in the last 96 hours that it's enough to make anyone's head spin. Now that things are beginning to escalate, and both state and Federal authorities have begun to weigh in, we can give you a bit more of an accurate picture about what's going on, and how it's going to affect us all going forward.

First off: We value the health of all of our clients, our employees, and their families, and many of our clients are elderly, or care for elderly family members, or others whose immune systems may be compromised
As such, and also in compliance w/PA Gov. Tom Wolf's order that all non-life-sustaining businesses cease in-office operations eff. 3/19 at 8pm, we are now officially announcing that we are no longer accepting in-person tax preparation appointments until we receive word that it is safe and legal to do so.
·
--If no one in your household is sick, has a fever, or has any flu symptoms, you may pick up your tax return in person at Sue Cavanaugh's house (most if not all of you know the address from the old days when the firm was in the basement); in lieu of that, you can also elect to have us mail you your return when we complete it. We will file your return electronically after you have returned the signed form, and payment to us.

--I have also taken the time to develop a secure electronic portal. through a website called Verifyle, where you can safely send any tax documents you wish to remit to us for processing. If you are interested in sending your documents to us this way, PLEASE reach out to us via Instant Messenger, and provide your email, and I will do so as soon as possible.

We're still trying to adapt to these external changes even as internally, we're also dealing with Bill's own slow but gradual improvement from illness that kept him effectively quarantined even BEFORE COVID-19 became a global issue. Many of you have been INCREDIBLY patient and understanding of this, and of the work Brian, Sue, Casey, and I have been trying to do to ensure that we still provide the best possible service to you, our most loyal and revered clients. We will always be grateful for it, and we thank you from the bottom of our collective and individual hearts.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (267) 343 4622. We are JUST NOW beginning to hear that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has announced that the IRS will automatically (with no filing requirement) grant extensions to FILE their returns until July 15th, corporate or personal. This is in ADDITION to the previous announcement that the IRS has granted 90 day timelines to PAY tax balances for the 2019 tax year from the original April 15th filing deadline. The IRS, as of this moment, has NOT released any official guidance on their website about the FILING deadline changes, but we'll post something as soon as that changes.

The bottom line: please be patient with us, if you can, as we adjust to these changes and still endeavor to serve you in or usual high level capacity.

Thank you so, so, so, so much in advance, all of you who do business with us, for continuing to do so and to be a part of our professional lives. We'll make it through this, because we're all gonna hang together to do it!

well, metaphorically speaking, not literally. Social distancing and all. You know what i meant. :-)

WE DID IT, PHILLY, WE DID IT!

We've finally reached the end of what's proven to have been one of the most eventful and trying tax seasons in our 38-year history. We've had to learn a lot, disseminate a ton of new information, and learn how to get our clients to be prepared for a new reality in taxation that is still revealing new and changing information every other day, it seems. But we did it! And we are glad to have done it with all of you!

Today, the office is closed [as we traditionally do not open on the last day of tax season], and WE WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL Monday, May 13th. But we'll still be available via FB Messenger, so if any of you out there have any questions, feel free to hit us up and we'll see what we can figure out for you there!

From all of us here at Cavanaughs Tax Service, LLC--Bill, Sue, Brian, Melissa, Theresa, and your favorite social media intern--we want to thank you for yet another great season of work, and are looking forward to moving forward into the extension season, and beyond!

Whoooooo boy, lol.

The Social Media Intern here at Cavanaugh's is taking a much needed break from the crunch time of the Last Week of Tax Season to briefly amply this piece of news from the IRS, which--based on some of the tough conversations we've already been having with taxpayers this season--will be REALLY important for folks to keep their eye on in the next couple of years.

Gone are the days where folks could reliably fill out the W-4 one time, and never think about it again. It will be critical to keep track of your information--especially if you have two jobs, or are a dual-income-earning household--in order to make sure you don't receive a less-than-fun surprise when it comes time to file again in 2020.

Stay tuned for further developments, both on this page and in the news around you. We'll be attempting to keep track of this as best we can, so you won't have to [as much]!

The IRS is changing how you adjust your paycheck withholdings, and it won’t be easy.
