Hjerpe & Tennison CPAs, LLC, a mid-size, full service CPA firm seeks an individual to work in their audit department. H&T is an independent CPA firm, providing high quality audit, tax, consulting and payroll services to clients in the central Illinois area and beyond.
Audit clients served include non-profit organizations, local governments, and small businesses. As an audit associate, you will perform audit and other assurance engagements for our clients, build relationships, and become a trusted business advisor.
Job responsibilities:
• Perform a wide range of audit and accounting procedures impacting industry-specific issues
• Audit complex areas/transactions as well as prepare financial statements and related reports
• Adhere to all quality control standards, as required

Accounting Intern Job Description
Hjerpe & Tennison CPAs, LLC is looking for a driven part-time Audit Intern with a basic understanding of financial principles and terms who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Audit Intern can expect to participate in the audit process and preparation of financial statements. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking. H&T offers a flexible working schedule in order to adapt to the candidate’s school schedule.
To be a strong candidate for an Audit Internship, you should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.
Accounting Intern Responsibilities:
• Shadowing members of the Audit department as they perform their duties.
• Assisting with all areas of the audit process.
• Analyzing and reviewing financial documentation and other data
• Preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
• Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
• Learning how to work as part of the Audit team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clients.
• Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.
Accounting Intern Requirements:
• Must be a recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Masters in Accounting.

We are looking for an experienced payroll team member. Candidate should have multi-state payroll knowledge, experience preparing payroll as well quarterly payroll reports and excel in a multitasking environment. Ideal candidate should be comfortable using QuickBooks desktop and MS Excel. QuickBooks Online and ADP experience a plus. Accounting degree preferred; CPP/CPA not required.
