People still are not aware you can not claim yourself or your children. There are still tax credits for the children under 17 and still educational credits for college students. You may still qualify for earned income credit. There are many things to consider. Then of course the State rules are different so look again. This is i

first 4 returns done but we can not email till the 28th. So they are signed and waiting. Been interesting to see how the new rules have affected returns. Some no problem one hurt because she could not use personal deductions but rules are rules. Try yours and see if they affect you. Remember Federal and State rules are different.

W2's and 1099s are all due to employees or subcontractors by the end of January so get them done.

Construction workers you can not use miles, hotel,. food on Fereal as an employee deduction. If you own the company you can still use them and please NOTE NYS is allowing them for employees Separate form. There are a lot of deduation not allowed on FEDERAL but NY STATE is saying yes.

Yes the government is still shut down but that will give you time to get all your information together to get forms done so you can e-file as soon as they start accepting forms. The sooner you file the sooner the refund. Yes they will hold all refunds until Government opens.

Yes the Federal Government is shut down but if you have deposits due make them because if you do not you will get a fine. I know you do not get it but protect yourself.

Remember when your child turns 17 they are no longer eligible for the child tax credit. That will change your refund.

Farmers did you know that if you donate to a Food Pantry you can get a tax credit on State form? Did you know that Federal took a lot of deductions away that if you know the right forms to use you can get back on State of New York. Believe it or not NYS is fighting back. A lot of this information is just being released so I am learning also. I just had to say gee its nice that our state does care.
