Let’s talk about it…We figured this was the best way to get the word out.
If you have given our office your 2025 tax return information, and have not been contacted that it is completed, an extension was filed. We are taking a few days away from the office…we need a minute…and will be back working on these returns to get them finished in the order they came in. An extension is not a death sentence. Let’s repeat that. An extension is NOT a death sentence. We file extensions on our own returns every year, and we certainly would not do that if they were detrimental. If you get a refund, extensions have zero consequences. If you typically owe, you should have paid in estimates or have contacted our office to make a payment with your extension, as this helps to cover any outstanding tax liability and alleviates penalties. The bottom line is this: these returns require more documentation and take more time with each year, we have a very short window in which to complete A LOT of work, and our work is efficient and tedious which we would like to believe is why we have so many returns to complete every year. We do not work based on how many returns we do or how quickly we can get them back to you, but rather our focus is on getting the absolute best result for our clients. When you call your favorite doctor to get an appointment, you schedule it when they can get you in, when you have your chosen photographer take your wedding photos, you wait on them to be edited, when you contact a full daycare who comes highly recommended, you get on the list and wait until they have an opening for your child…and the list goes on. We deal with your money, and we take that very seriously. We expect you to want our very best, and trust us to do what we do.
We also have personal lives. Sometimes we lose family members, our children get married, move to other states or countries, join the military, have their own children…we get sick, loved ones get sick, we have appointments outside the office…all these things and much more happen during tax season. There are times we have to be out…whether planned or unplanned. There are three of us who work on these returns and the two of us do not allow even one return out the door without our review and our signatures. We give you all our absolute best. We cannot work around the clock…although many times we have done just that.
**PLEASE be respectful of our time. We work very long hours and have very limited down time. We also address the status of your return with a voice message that is relayed when you call our office. Please do not text our personal phones, message us on our personal social media pages, stop us in the grocery store, or use any other means of asking us about your tax returns. Please listen to the message when you call our office and follow the instructions. It is becoming such an issue that it is disrupting work and keeping us from completing these tax returns you all are so desperately seeking. The IRS allows extensions. They were created because they were needed. They are not a factor in whether you are audited. Please allow us to do our best job for you. We have each been doing this for almost 30 years. We are professionals. We have not lost nor have we forgotten your tax return…not in the last 29 years and not this year. We can promise that the completion of your return weighs more heavily on us than on you.
We are grateful for all our clients and we have been beyond blessed in this business. Thank you for trusting us and thank you for your patience.
