Trips can be a write-off...but only if they’re structured correctly.

Here’s what matters:

• The trip has to be primarily for business.

• You must be traveling away from your main place of work.

• Mixing personal days doesn’t automatically make the whole trip deductible.

• Documentation is everything...receipts, purpose, timeline, etc.

Some expenses may qualify (travel, lodging, part of meals), but personal activities and entertainment do not.

This is one of the most misunderstood areas of taxes, and one of the easiest to get wrong.

When it comes to write-offs, it’s not about what you can claim...it’s not about what you can prove.
