My mom is very sick and I’m trying to make sure all her weekly tasks get done, but I may not know about smaller company/individual payroll that she runs (I typically have helped with the larger companies). The criminals are stepping up their game when it comes to scams.

There are fake IRS letters being sent out across the state. Attached is a copy of one of these fraudulent letters.

If you have received a letter from the “IRS” and they ask a check be made out to “The IRS”, this can be a clear sign this is a fake letter, looking to steal your information and money.
Check the P.O. Box address against the government mailing addresses, located at https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment.

Please be aware of this new approach and share this post to help spread the awareness to everyone you know.

Boy, have we been busy! As the January 31st deadline is approaching, we have been printing and mailing out lots of W-2's and 1099's. Helpful tip: To ensure no important tax papers are lost in your home, take a file folder and store away each form you receive in the mail. By the time you have received all your paperwork and are ready to file your taxes, you won't have to stress over having to find that one missing piece of mail! Less headaches for everyone :)
