City Street Update - Friday, 6:45 am

All City streets have been treated.
Priority streets have received a second treatment. Due to low temperatures, streets have refrozen and are still ice covered.

Our crews have been working in shifts and will be out again this morning to work their magic.

Please stay off the roads, however if you must travel, please use extreme caution as the roads are very slick.

🚗 ELIZABETHTOWN CITY ROAD UPDATE 🚗

City crews have been treating City roads throughout the night.

The roads are snow covered, but passable. Please take extra time as you commute.

If you have a car parked on the street, please move it off of the street to give our crews room to work. This will be very helpful when the second round of this storm comes later today and the plows come through.

The salt trucks will be out again later this morning as they prepare for more precipitation and additional accumulations.

Folks, our public works people deserve a standing ovation for the round-the-clock work they've tirelessly performed on our roads. A lot of guys and gals haven't slept much in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, one variable that we can't control is temperature. The road surfaces are already in the 20's, and the air temperature is expected to dip into the upper teens tonight. Ice will likely re-form on wet roadways, especially ramps, bridges, overpasses, and side streets. Expect hazardous driving conditions overnight into the morning hours. It's best to avoid driving during these times if possible.

One of the highest ranked recruits in program history, Elam chose to stay home in Kentucky instead of attending Alabama as a five-star recruit at John Hardin High School. Elam's size (he was listed at 6-foot-7, 375 pounds as a freshman) made him an immediate fan favorite, and he appeared in all 12 games as a freshman, finishing the season with 10 tackles and two pass breakups.
