Are MLMs (also sometimes called direct marketing) scams?

Who cares. Some are, some aren’t. That’s not what’s important.

You should probably avoid many of them either way.

How do you know if you should avoid it or not?
Easy.

👍🏼 If your financial success is tied mostly to selling a product or service to people who want it… go for it!

👎🏼 If your financial success is tied mostly to signing up others based on the promise they can make money, avoid it.

If you’re already in the second type, cut your losses and get out.

Why avoid the second type of “opportunity”? There are only two potential scenarios with option 2.

1- You get in too late and it’s mathematically impossible to make enough money to support your family.

2- You get in early enough but the only way you make enough money is from signing up others who mathematically cannot make enough money (which in my opinion is ethically questionable).

Please join me in congratulating Renee for passing the Enrolled Agent exam. As an Enrolled Agent, Renee has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns.

Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights. This means they are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before.

Fun Fact: We are siblings. Renee is the oldest, I (Brad) am the middle, and Justin (also an Enrolled Agent) is the youngest.
