You will see a post below regarding needing the third stimulus exact amount and the child tax credit amounts for your upcoming tax appointment. If you do not get the letters, another option is to create an account on the IRS website, which will be listed below. Once registered, there is a section called, "Records". This section will have both of the amounts listed. It's also a useful site to get a refund status, make payments, set up a payment plan, retrieve past tax return transcripts and past payment information, etc.

Get instructions on your online account. Review the amount you owe, balance for each tax year and payment history.

ALERT: PLEASE be on the look out, and do not throw away the IRS letters coming this month. They are labeled 6475 for the third economic impact payment (stimulus check, as people call it) last March and 6419 for the advance child tax credit. We will need the letters to accurately file your tax return. Everyone should be receiving these two letters by the end of January. If you do not receive the letters or misplace them, please make sure to know the exact amounts before your tax appointment. The child tax credit came monthly for most people starting last July, with six total payments. The third stimulus check came last March for most people. Thank you!!

Many of you are asking about working from home expenses due to Covid-19. The 2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act suspended all unreimbursed job expenses for W-2 taxpayers. The CARES Act and the most recent stimulus act has not reinstated or allowed for any work from home expense for 2020.
For self-employed individuals the ability to deduct home office expenses is unchanged and still exists if you have a 100% business dedicated office area." See you all very soon!
