The IRS will officially begin accepting efiled returns on Monday, January 27th. Likewise, we will start scheduling in-person appointments on that day. Drop offs are always accepted and do not require an appointment. (662) 874-6646

Time for our annual announcement as it relates to extensions....

By definition, filing and receiving a 6 month extension on your taxes gives you an extension of time to FILE your taxes. If you owe taxes, your taxes are still due TODAY.

When you file an extension, you should also send in a payment for your estimated taxes that are due. By doing this, you avoid any penalties and interest on unpaid taxes between now and time you can actually file your return. If you don't send in an estimated payment you will still incur penalties and interest on any unpaid balances.

There are provisions if you cannot afford to pay all of your taxes at once. You can request a payment plan from the IRS that can extend your payments as long as 6 years.

The quickest and most secure way to receive your state and federal income tax refund is via direct deposit. If you are having someone prepare your return be sure to check the routing and account number at the bottom of your 1040 on page 2 to make sure that this is YOUR routing and account number. Some preparers will deposit your refund into their account, deduct their fees (which are usually twice what they should be) and then cut you a check for the difference. In our opinion, this is a shady and unprofessional business practice and not something that we do or condone.

If you received a stimulus check in 2021 or if you received monthly child tax credit advance payments you should receive letters from the IRS indicating how much you received. Your tax preparer will need these letters when preparing your tax return.

Tax season officially begins tomorrow (1/24) as the IRS will begin accepting electronically filed returns. We will be in the office M-F from 10am until 5pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 3pm.
