What is IRS Form 5498, and why did I receive it?
Form 5498 provides information about your IRA account, including contributions, rollovers, Roth conversions, and the value of your account at year-end. Your custodian sends this form to both you and the IRS each year.
IRA contributions for the previous tax year can be made up until the tax filing deadline, which is why Form 5498 is often mailed after tax season.
For most people, no action is required when you receive this form. Simply keep it with your tax records, especially if you made an IRA contribution, completed a rollover, or converted funds to a Roth IRA during the year.
If you have questions about how this form may affect your tax situation, please consult your tax professional.
