Attention Massachusetts tax payers: this is something I thought I would never share, but the state is returning excess 2021 tax revenue to taxpayers to the tune of roughly 13% of your 2021 personal tax liability. The estimated refund calculator is on in the article attached.

Massachusetts plans to return nearly $3 billion in excess revenue to millions of taxpayers this fall.

On Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed bill SB 1054, which mandates personal finance education for high school graduation.

Now that we are seeing clients in person at the office again, we conducted an exhaustive search to fill the Greeter position here at NRF. We are pleased to announce that we finally offered the position to Stella. She drove a hard negotiation but we finally settled on unlimited snacks and an occasional siesta.

A day late with this post, but still worth sharing for the fun facts!

Charles Dow founded the Dow Jones Industrial Average 125 years ago today.
- The Dow started with 12 companies, most of which don’t exist anymore, though General Electric was in the original 12.
- It has gained 7.7% on average per year, with an 82.7% gain in 1915 as the best year ever, and a 52.7% loss in 1931, the worst year ever.
- It has made 1,440 new all-time highs, which comes out to 4.5% of all days that have scored a new high.
- The worst day ever was a 22.6% drop during the crash of 1987, while the best single day gain ever was 15.3% gain in March 1933.

I’m very proud of my youngest son, Joseph, who volunteered to shave his head for a great cause. donated $5000 per head to Boston Children’s Hospital, and raised $7.5 million towards the cause. Awesome!

It was early March 2020 that we moved into our new office space after 2 months of major renovations. We were excited to get in and have our clients visit us in our new space. Sadly between March 1 and March 13th we only had 2 clients come in, and essentially no one since. Pictured with Andrew and I on moving day is one of these 2 clients, the great Lou Rizzo, a loyal client and friend of ours for going on 18 years! We are looking forward to a time to when we can meet our clients and friends in person again. Soon......

My 3 boys are in elementary school. Being their Dad, but also as someone who has dedicated my entire professional career to helping others make smart choices with their wealth, I feel an obligation to teach them at an early age about the responsibility that comes along with having, and not having, money.

As I was driving them to school today my oldest son asked me out of the blue “Dad, do you have to pay to retire?” What a great teachable moment first thing in the AM. And it dawned on me how many adults may not know how to answer this question, considering the percentage of folks in our country who are not on track to financially retire when they wish, and/or have the lifestyle they hope to have when the time comes.

I have tried to do my part in and outside of my house to educate young people on money related topics. It also continues to amaze me that a class on money is not mandatory for high school students, particularly at the junior/senior levels. These are lessons that should be required alongside math, science, history, etc., and learned at a young age to set up good financial behaviors for a lifetime.

In these unprecedented times, another “first” to report, the May crude oil futures contract expiring tomorrow closed in the negative today, the first time in history that this has happened. This suggests that any trader looking to take physical delivery of crude oil would actually get paid, yes paid, to receive it!! WOW!

But don’t panic, the June oil futures contract represents a more accurate value of a barrel of crude.

US crude prices turned negative on Monday as one analyst told CNBC that the situation stateside is "quite dire."
