Your vacation should come with memories—not a second job planning it!

Sandy, owner of Somewhere Sandy Travel, and a retired Army veteran with 30 years of service, shared ten reasons to use a travel advisor:

Top 10 Reasons to Use a Travel Agent

1. Save Time. Skip hours of online searching. A travel agent helps narrow the options to fit your interests, schedule, and budget.

2. Get Expert Advice. Benefit from destination knowledge, professional training, and practical tips that help you plan with confidence.

3. Enjoy Extra Perks. Depending on the booking, agents may offer access to room upgrades, breakfast, resort credits, or other extras.

4. Leave the Details to Someone Else. Flights, hotels, transportation, and tours—with help coordinating it all, you can focus on enjoying the trip.

5. Have Support When Plans Change. Flight canceled? Reservation trouble? Your agent can help you explore options and advocate on your behalf.

6. Make Your Budget Go Further. A good agent helps you compare overall value, spot added costs, and decide where to save or splurge.

7. Simplify Complicated Trips. Multi-country vacations, cruises, destination weddings, and family reunions are easier with someone helping organize the moving parts.

8. Get Help Preparing. An agent can point you toward current entry requirements, passport guidance, and travel insurance options so you know what to verify before departure.

9. Build a Relationship. An agent who knows your travel style can make each new trip easier to plan—and more personal.

10. Talk to a Real Person. Get a familiar point of contact who understands your trip and cares about the experience.

Your vacation should start with excitement—not 37 open browser tabs.

Sandy’s goal is simple: less stress, more memories!

Thanks, Sandy, for your service and for helping others explore the world! 🌎

Medicare can leave you with more questions than answers! Thank you to Kim Moore of KLM Benefits Solutions for helping our IRN members understand what to review and which questions to ask.

Medicare deserves a yearly review. Kim discussed how changes in premiums, copays, prescription coverage, and extra benefits can affect your budget.

Look beyond the monthly premium. A low premium is only part of the picture. Your medications, doctors, pharmacies, and potential out-of-pocket costs all matter.
Ask about prescription payment options. Kim highlighted the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which can spread covered prescription costs over time. It helps with budgeting—it doesn’t reduce the total cost.
Understand your coverage gaps. Kim discussed Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, and how separate hospital indemnity coverage may help with certain expenses, depending on the policy.
Personal service matters throughout the year. KLM emphasized helping clients understand their choices, navigate changes, and get answers beyond enrollment season.

Our recent speaker at the Huron County IRN meeting was Stephanie Pickering of Cornerstone Caregiving, a In-Home Heath-care Service.

What a powerful IRN presentation!

After surviving six strokes and a brain aneurysm, Stephanie had to relearn how to walk, talk and ride a bike. That experience shaped her approach to caregiving and her commitment to helping Cornerstone clients feel seen, respected and independent.

Cornerstone helps people remain at home with companionship, meals, light housekeeping, laundry, transportation, errands and other daily support.

Stephanie’s key message says it all: A caregiver can help your daughter be your daughter, your son be your son, and your spouse be your spouse again.

Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing your story and showing us the heart behind Cornerstone’s work!

For more information on how Cornerstone can help you give them a call at 567-753-7677 or email Stephanie at:

Water, fire, smoke, or mold—there’s more to restoration than meets the eye!

Thank you to our chapter’s restoration representative, Riley Cafin from SERVPRO of Tiffin for an informative and interactive presentation!

She shared how her team finds hidden moisture, uses specialized drying equipment, and helps homeowners through the restoration process with care and professionalism. A little friendly competition with a restoration quiz kept everyone on their toes!

The big takeaway? What you can see may only be part of the problem. Addressing damage early and knowing when to call a professional can make a big difference.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion for helping others!

For cleaning restoration or construction service services, don’t hesitate to call Riley at 419-619-0900.

This week’s speaker at our weekly IRN meeting was Andrea Welfle of Welfle Creative. Andrea shared an honest look at growing a small business—from doing everything herself to building a talented team.

Her biggest lesson: Being good at your work isn’t the same as knowing how to run and grow a business. Success starts with a strong foundation—a professional website, accurate Google listing, consistent information, and a clear marketing plan. Social media and AI can help, but they still need strategy and a human touch.

Thank you for the informative and thought-provoking presentation!

09/03/2026

This week’s featured speaker at the Huron County IRN luncheon was Chris Stang, a CPA with 26 years of experience helping individuals and small businesses.

Chris explained that his work goes far beyond preparing tax returns. He helps clients understand Ohio’s complicated city and school-district taxes, choose the proper business structure, plan for retirement, and prepare for major life changes such as marriage, divorce, buying or selling a business, and transferring a business to the next generation.

His best referrals are small-business owners, people who are new to Ohio, or anyone facing a significant financial change. Chris’s message was simple: Good tax planning should happen before a decision is made—not after tax season arrives.

Thank you, Chris, for an informative and eye-opening presentation!
