WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today reminds individuals and businesses in areas covered by 2024 disaster declarations that their 2024 federal income tax returns and tax payments for tax year 2024 are due on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Taxpayers in three additional states face fall deadlines.

The May 1, 2025, deadline applies to taxpayers affected by FEMA disaster declarations issued during 2024. Taxpayers in the entire states of:
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
North Carolina
South Carolina

Individual and business taxpayers automatically get the extra time without having to ask for it. Anyone who needs a tax filing extension beyond May 1, 2025, for tax year 2024 can get it, but they must request the extra time.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on Friday announced the tax filing season will open on Monday, Jan. 27 for taxpayers submitting their tax returns for tax year 2024.
The IRS said it expects more than 140 million individual tax returns by the federal deadline for filing returns for tax year 2024, which will be Tuesday, April 15.

** 2024 TAX SEASON **

IRS announced last week that Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, is the official start date of the nation's 2024 tax season when the agency will begin accepting and processing 2023 tax returns.

The IRS refund schedule will commence on January 18th. Filers who select direct deposit should anticipate their refunds within 21 days of the IRS receiving their tax return. Others who opt for a paper check, should expect about four weeks for delivery.

Tax organizers were sent out last week so keep an eye out if you haven't already received it.
We ask that you please take time to fill it out the best you can & return it to us with your 2023 tax documents. The organizer helps in not only preparing your return but also ensures you receive all possible tax credits available to you.
