One thing I saw this tax season that’s costing people thousands? S-Corps.

Because this tax season?
I had at least 5 people come to me with S-Corps and no idea what they actually signed up for.

Like… no payroll set up
Not paying themselves
Never heard of “reasonable compensation”

Just “my accountant told me to do it” 😩

And don’t get me wrong—
S-Corps can be a GREAT strategy when it makes sense.

But it’s not something you just elect and forget about.

There’s real responsibility that comes with it:
You have to run payroll
You have to pay yourself properly
You have to stay compliant

And if you don’t?
That’s where the problems (and extra costs) start coming in.

I’m not saying don’t become an S-Corp…
I’m saying make sure you actually understand why you’re doing it and what comes with it.

Because the goal isn’t just to “save on taxes”
It’s to do things the RIGHT way and actually benefit from it.

If you have an S-Corp right now and you’re like “wait…” 👀
You might want to get it reviewed.

Tax Day is approaching. If you know you’re not going to get your return filed on time, do yourself a favor and file an extension. This gives you an additional 6 months to file your return.

But be aware—an extension is only an extension to file, not to pay. If you expect to owe, you should still make a payment by the deadline to avoid penalties and interest.

If you’re unsure what you owe, it’s always better to estimate and pay something rather than nothing.

If you need an extension, let’s chat.

Reminder for Business Owners 🚨

Today is the deadline for calendar-year Partnerships (Form 1065) and S-Corporations (Form 1120-S) to file their tax returns.

It is also generally the deadline to revoke an S-Corporation election if you want the revocation to be effective for the current tax year.

If you have an S-Corp but have not been able to keep up with requirements such as payroll filings and paying yourself a reasonable salary, you may want to review whether the S-Corp structure still makes sense for your business.

If you’re not ready to file today, make sure you file an extension (Form 7004) to avoid late filing penalties.

Need an extension? Let’s chat https://calendly.com/divinefinancialservices/taxconsultation

Business Owners — Don’t Miss This Deadline 🚨

If you have a Partnership (1065) or S Corporation (1120-S) your tax return is due March 16, 2026 (since the 15th falls on a Sunday).

That means we are officially in countdown mode. ⏳

You have 13 days left to:

✔️ File your Partnership return
✔️ File your S Corp return
✔️ File an Extension
✔️ Revoke your S Corp election (if applicable and properly timed)

And let me be clear — an extension gives you more time to file, NOT more time to pay.

Late filing penalties for Partnerships and S Corps are no joke. The IRS charges penalties per partner, per month. That adds up quickly.

If:
• You haven’t started
• Your books aren’t clean
• You’re not sure what to file
• You need to revoke your S Corp status properly

Let’s talk now — not March 15th at 9pm.

I help business owners stay compliant and strategic — not reactive.

Are you choosing a tax preparer… or just someone who files paperwork?

Hiring the wrong tax professional can cost you audits, penalties, and missed deductions.

If you’re a small business owner, W2 employee, or self-employed entrepreneur — you need more than a fast refund.

You need compliance. Strategy. Clarity.

Before you file this year, ask yourself:
Does my tax preparer actually review my return with me?

Comment “REVIEW” if you want your next tax return done right.

02/26/2026

Let me ask you something 👇

When your tax return is finished…

Does your tax preparer just send it over for you to sign?
Or do they actually review it with you?

I’m talking about walking through your Form 1040, explaining your refund or balance due, and helping you understand how your income, deductions, and credits all came together.

Because tax preparation shouldn’t feel rushed or confusing. Whether you’re a small business owner, entrepreneur, or W-2 employee — you should know what you’re signing.

Be honest… have you ever had your tax return actually reviewed with you? 👀

Good Morning ☀️

There are 49 days until Tax Day (April 15, 2026).

Have you filed yet… or are you still gathering documents? 👀

Let’s clear up the overtime tax confusion because there’s a LOT of it going around.

I know many of you have already heard about the new overtime deduction, but I’m seeing a lot of misinformation — especially around the idea of “tax-free overtime.”

❌ Overtime is NOT tax-free

It is still reported on your W-2 and it is still included in your wages.

So what actually changed?
It allows some workers to take a deduction for the extra portion of overtime pay — not the entire overtime check.

So what does that really mean, Christina?? 🤔

If your regular rate is $20/hr and your overtime rate is $30/hr,
ONLY the extra $10/hr (the “half-time” portion required by federal law) may qualify.

Not everyone qualifies
• First, you must be overtime-eligible under federal law (FLSA)
• Second, if you are salary and exempt, you do not qualify
• Lastly, federal employees must be non-exempt (check your SF-50)

There are income limits
• Up to $12,500 (single)
• Up to $25,000 (married filing jointly)
• Deduction phases out after $150K single / $300K joint

And on another note —
Employers are not required to separately list qualified overtime on W-2s this year. In many cases, it must be calculated, not assumed.

✨ Bottom line:
This deduction can help — but only if it’s applied correctly and compliantly.
