Since most of our staff is back into their off-season reading, we've been thinking about adding a little outdoor community library/book exchange outside our office — and we want YOUR input!
Would anyone in the community actually use it?

We know the exact cozy cottage/bookshop vibe we want… but everything we've found is either super expensive or not quite right.

Important Michigan Tax Update | Balanced Accounting & Tax Services
There are three things happening right now with the Michigan Department of Treasury that may affect you.

Received an unexpected refund check? Do not cash it.
These checks were sent by the state in error. Mail it back uncashed to Michigan Department of Treasury, P.O. Box 30788, Lansing, MI 48909 with a note explaining you are returning it. Already cashed it? Contact us right away — the money will need to be repaid, and we will help you request a waiver on any additional penalty and interest.

Got a letter saying your tax payment was missing? Do nothing for now.
The state sent these letters by mistake. Your payment is on file. Corrected letters will be issued. However, if your appeals deadline is approaching and you have not received a corrected letter, contact us and we will file an appeal to protect you.

Still waiting on your refund?
Standard processing times are 4–6 weeks for e-filed returns and 6–8 weeks for paper returns. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to speed this up — it is in the state's hands. Check your status at michigan.gov/taxes or call 517-636-4486, Mon–Fri 8am–4:30pm.
