1099-K Update (Important!)

The $600 1099-K rule is NOT being enforced right now at the federal level.

- For recent tax years, payment apps like PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Etsy, eBay, etc. generally do NOT have to issue a 1099-K just because you hit $600.

- The IRS has delayed the rule and is using higher thresholds for now.

**Reminder:
Even if you don’t receive a 1099-K, all taxable income must still be reported on your tax return.

** Also note:
• This is federal — some states may have lower rules
• The $600 rule still applies to 1099-NEC, not 1099-K

NI TAXES on OVERTIME!

As of 2025, the IRS rolled out one of the biggest middle-class tax relief moves in ages: No federal income tax on qualified overtime pay (via a new deduction).

What it really means: That extra “half” from time-and-a-half overtime? You can deduct it from your taxable income.

Key details that matter:
• Up to $12,500 deductible per year ($25,000 if married filing jointly)
• Starts phasing out at $150k income (single) or $300k (joint)
• Works for W-2 employees, 1099 contractors, and other qualifying setups
• Runs through 2028 — so you’ve got this relief for the 2025-2028 tax years

Hard work via overtime was always meant to pay off extra. For the next few years, Uncle Sam is finally making it feel that way again.

Tipped workers can deduct up to $25,000 in tips from their taxable income until 2028.
But this only helps if you earn enough to owe taxes.

If you make less money—like near minimum wage or have dependents—you likely don’t owe federal income tax anyway.
So, this deduction won’t give you any extra refund or benefit in that case.

Also, if you earn over $150,000, you get less of this deduction, and any tips over $25,000 are still taxed.

Your Credit Score is Holding You Back—Here’s How to Fix It:

1) Know Your Score – Check your credit report. You’re allowed a free one every year, so don’t wait!

2) Pay on Time – Late payments kill your score. Set up automatic payments if you need to.

3) Keep Credit Balances Low – Try to use less than 30% of your available credit. The lower, the better!

4) Mix It Up – Having a variety of credit (credit cards, loans) shows you can manage money well.

5) Limit New Credit Applications – Too many inquiries in a short time hurt your score.

A good credit score = lower interest rates, more opportunities, and more money in your pocket.
