IRS contingency plan for 2025. States they will remain open for the first 5 days but all other services like collections and manual returns will be paused as they have been during other shutdowns.

E-file services and any automated services that don’t require a person could still be available.

Automated collection notices will still continue to be sent as they don’t require a person.

No audits will be conducted during the shutdown.

All appointments are cancelled.

Tax court proceedings are cancelled

Filing deadline will remain for efile

Still make your payment arrangements

Still make employer and estimated income tax payments

The initial budget that Joe Biden put in place was cut by Trump in the amount of 20 Billion dollars. So that plan doesn’t have enough funding to keep them operating. The talk is to try and keep it open but it is more likely than not that they will be furloughed
