Employers: Your end-of-year business tax and compensation forms are typically due on January 31st, but since that falls on a Saturday this year, the postmark deadline is extended to the following Monday. Your best bet is to file early and use certified mail.

The IRS has announced that they will begin officially accepting and processing individual federal tax returns for Tax Year 2025 on January 26th, marking the start of tax season.

Note that most taxpayers will not receive all the forms they need to file by that date, as the deadline for employers and payors is later. But it's a great time to prepare: the sooner you file, the sooner you can receive a potential refund and avoid tax headaches.
