🔢 Adjustments to the state Withholding Tax Tables take effect January 1, 2023.

💵 Because of those adjustments, most SC workers will see less state taxes withheld from their paychecks in 2023!

I know a lot of folks have questions about this rebate. Here is an article from SCDOR that hopefully helps you determine if you will get any of the rebate. Basically, if you had a tax liability for 2021, you will receive up to 800.00 per return, not per taxpayer. If you have an outstanding balance on unpaid individual income tax to SC, they will send you a letter letting you know why they are adjusting your amount of the rebate. Whether that includes money owed to places like hospitals that have previously put a “lien” on any future refunds, we are unsure.

I know this will be a question a lot of you will have pertaining to the "up to 800.00" that some taxpayers will get..
The size of rebate taxpayers get will depend on their income tax liability. Residents who don’t pay income taxes – more than one-third of tax filers – will not receive a rebate.
