There are so many new ways to save on your taxes this year! One that very few people have been talking about is an increase in the SALT Deduction. SALT stands for State And Local Tax. Previously, a person could only use up to $10k in state and local taxes (including property taxes). Now, the ceiling has been raised!

We did a return last night and the couple was able to save an additional $800 from this change!

There is a new deduction for those over 65 that could reduce their income by $6,000 per person, up to $12,000 per return...

There is a new deduction for those over 65 that could reduce their income by $6,000 per person, up to $12,000 per return! This is subject to many limitations, but many will qualify.

We just prepared a return and the new Senior Deduction helped them out with an increased refund of $1200!

(By the way - this is what AI thinks our preparer, Brad, will look like in 30 years....think he'll still be single then?)

So many exciting new tax code changes this year! We just did a return for a local server and she saved over $2,000 with the new "no tax on tips" deduction this year! Be sure to let Messner & Fox know if you are paid wit tips. It can save you a ton of money this year.

Obviously, there are details and stipulations - but let us handle that piece. You can just sit back and plan how to spent your refund. ;-)

Did you know there is a deduction for Pennsylvania that allows you to deduct a portion of your student loan interest? Obviously, there are qualifications, limits, and details. Even if you don't qualify on your federal return!

Be sure to let us know that you paid on your student loans this year! It could help you out a couple hundred dollars!

We are working away here despite the cold and snow! We just finished a return and the new tax code changes for 2025 are already helping people out. This person just saved $2,200 in taxes because of the new "no tax on overtime" changes.

There were more changes to our tax code this past year in any previous year I can remember. Definitely not a year to try and "wing it" or guess on your taxes. There are new changes with overtime, tips, seniors, and more!

Well, back to the desk to work on the next return. Stay safe and warm out there, folks!

Mon-Thu: 11am-7pm
Fri: Closed
Sat: 10am-2pm
Sun: Closed

Please note: we are here more hours, but we limit pickup hours so we can concentrate on finalizing returns.

The one thing we can always be guaranteed in the tax space is constant change.

Mississippi just signed a new bill to reduce/eliminate state income tax. Currently at 4%, there was being a .25% reduction per year over the next several years.

A large portion of our client base is not in Mississippi, but we continue to monitor and watch ALL taxation issues. We will keep you updated on more!

2 days ago, President Trump signed an Executive Order attempting to modernize federal payments systems. This EO mandates that, effective September 30, 2025, the Federal government will no longer issue paper checks for payments, including tax refunds.

What does this mean? This means, to file your 2025 taxes next year, you will need to provide a bank account if receive a refund; a check will not be issued.

There are many reasons for this and there are some minor exemptions, but we are still waiting on final details.
