Public service announcement. Check federal withholding on your paystubs. The withholding tables have been changed for the One Big Beautiful Bill. Those benefiting from the new tax deductions (OT and tips) will be close to break even next year. Those who don’t will have smaller refunds or owe. I noticed my withholding was $50 less a pay. Please check your paystub so no surprises next year.

FIRM FILING DEADLINE & BOOKING UPDATE:
Tax season is in full swing, and my calendar is now officially booked for appointments.

To ensure every return gets the dedicated time and accuracy it deserves before the IRS deadline, I am moving to "Drop-off only" for the remainder of the season.

THE CUTOFF: FRIDAY APRIL 3RD
To guarantee your return is filed by April 15th, I must have all of your documents in hand by April 3rd. Why the hard deadline?

Accuracy over Rush: I want to ensure every deduction is found!

Peace of Mind: You'll be filed and finished while everyone else is scrambling.

Family time: I am aiming to have my desk cleared by April 13th to cheer on my niece at her band concert.

Any documents received after April 3rd will likely require an extension to be filed. Please note that extensions will not be processed until September. I will be stepping away from the desk to recharge after the deadline, so if you want your taxes done this spring, please get your info in now.

No tax on Social security. Did you know that absolutely nothing was changed with social security? Still taxable up to 85%. What really happened is that if you are over 65 you may get $6000 added to your standard deduction that may offset social security Thats wonderful. But stop saying social security is not taxable. OT? Yes, some not taxable. A 3rd of it is deductible. Not all OT. You still pay tax on ss, med, state and local. Yes it helps, it’s good but not what was advertised. I am not discounting the benefits but stop saying it’s all tax free. So many of my clients are so disheartened when the reality hits them

I have had many call/text for appt this week. I plan on returning all calls this week. Please be patient as i have been gearing up for the season this weekend.

As you may have heard the irs is accepting returns on 1/26. Many changes this year. If you have overtime I will need your last paystub of the year. I am in the process of sending engagement letters out. I will need them signed before I can work on the return. I cannot efile a return until I have your signatures. The irs is really coming down hard on due diligence.

If you receive a notice from the IRS stating they have not received your tax return, please let me know. They are implementing a new AI feature and it’s not accurate. I have acknowledgements that all returns I filed were accepted. Just a heads up not to panic. Please be patient with all the changes going on right now and please keep me posted so I can send in the receipts of filing. Thank you!
