LIFE UPDATE: Our Sugar Land home has sold and I have moved my business mailing address to New Braunfels, Texas. What does this mean for Tax Season 2026 and the future? The IRS announced Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, as the opening of the nation’s 2026 filing season.
The second news release for the IRS’s Get Ready campaign explains additional steps tax professionals and their clients should take before filing tax year 2025 federal income tax returns. These steps include:
Accessing IRS Individual Online Accounts. Users can view account information, make payments, manage communication preferences and protect tax information. Tax professionals can use Tax Pro Account and businesses can use Business Tax Account.
Using direct deposit to receive tax refunds.
Reviewing new 2025 tax law changes, including the tax provisions in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.
Learning about new Trump Accounts for eligible children.

Big Beautiful Bill and Address Change

I am no longer keeping an office in Sugar Land. What does this mean? I want to sell my Sugar Land home and move to Central Texas. In the mean time, I am moving my business address to New Braunfels which is close to my Canyon Lake home. The Canyon Lake home has been our vacation home since 1999 and I do have a full office there. A trusted mailbox is important to me so I now have a private mail box at:

For most, this will not be a change, the services will remain the same. I will be ready, willing and able as always. If you like to meet in person, that will be an issue for TAX SEASON 2026. I am happy to face time and will require you to use the private mail box for your documents or send me a folder with your PDF tax documents.

Retiring? No! My plan is to at least work to 65, six more years, honestly my future is in my Lord's hands, right?! I am excited about the plans God has for Greg and I. I still really love my work, grateful for that.

I understand those who "meet" at my office may want to change CPAs. Please let me know so I can plan accordingly for Tax Season 2026.

I am excited about the Bill Beautiful Bill and what it means for taxpayers. My CPA certification requires me to get 40 hours of continuing education each year so I will be learning more about this bill. Mostly it is an extension of the good tax stuff, not new law.

FYI -I work in a first come first serve basis, right now I am working on clients i received about 5 days ago, not too bad. That being said, right now I need at least a week, that will shorten as i get closer to March 15 or April 15. Closer to deadline dates I a finalizing returns and filing extensions. Get you books reconciled and tax paperwork together. Its going good, lets get you on my list now. Happy Tax paperwork gathering!

TEXAS Public Information Reports (PIR) - Taxpayers under the new 2.47 million threshold no longer have to file No Tax Due Report. You are still required to file the PIR annually. You will need to use your XT number to web file your PIR with the Texas Comptroller by May 15, 2024. Need my services for this filing please ask. This is a simple filing thus I will need not be filing it for you.

Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting | FinCEN.gov Reporting: Companies created or registered before January 1, 2024, will have until January 1, 2025, to file their initial BOI reports with FinCEN, and reporting companies created or registered on or after January 1, 2025, will have 30 calendar days to file their initial BOI reports with FinCEN. You will be required to upload federal id when you file. I would create a login and get a FinCEN ID to simplify the process that is required annually.
