What is your experience with working remotely?

There are new directives coming from the top of the corporate world calling people to come back to the office. How do you feel about that?

I am an entrepreneur at heart so working independently is perfect for me. As an extremely self-motivated individual, I love working remotely and am most productive when I have autonomy. When I have clearly defined objectives and deadlines, I will set my mind on the goal and get it done. I don't need a time clock or someone standing over my shoulder to make sure my work is done and done well. On the other hand, I am very relational and thrive when I am connected to my team and to my clients. That can be a challenge, requiring intentionality, asking good questions, and learning to listen well.

What are some ways that you stay motivated and connected to your team and your clients? What are some challenges when you work outside of a traditional office setting?

Personally, I prefer paper calendars and paper lists - and use both, in addition to my online calendar, spreadsheets, and other documents. Not only do paper calendars and lists help us see the bigger picture, writing out information may help us formulate and process the information.
