So the Democratic led House wants the $600 per week federal unemployment benefit to continue through January.

The Republican led Senate wants the payments dropped so the total payment received from unemployment amounts to 70% of lost wages.

So let's say you're currently losing $800 a week. Right now you're getting $400 a week plus $600 from the feds = $1,000 a week. The Republicans want you to get just 70% of your pay which is $560 a week. So you'd get $400 + $160 from the feds.

If they end up going with what the Republicans want this means entirely revamping the payment structure with each states' unemployment and a delay in payments starting next week of "eight weeks to 20 weeks".

I haven't heard whether this means you would get no payment or just the unemployment and then whatever the feds are kicking in later. If it's no payment then this means a complete collapse to the economy as millions of people have no money coming in.

Let's hope they make the right decision.

FYI - if you are self-employed in Washington state wait until APRIL 18TH to file your unemployment claim. If you filed before then when the site was not set up to accept the self-employed YOU WILL HAVE TO REAPPLY.

With the growing economic crisis comes growing frustration from people waiting on unemployment checks. They can’t seem to get approved and can’t get answers from the state about when they can expect some relief.

Actually if you were a cat and did have a business you could expense the litter as Office Supplies just as humans with a bathroom in their office expense toilet paper. So if any cats out there need an accountant, message me. I got your back ;)

It's not too late to get your personal taxes filed. The due date for personal returns this year is actually Monday the 18th not today the 15th. Message me if you have a simple return that needs filing and I can still fit you in! Simple 1040 returns (no itemization for home ownership, etc) are only $50!
