Welcome Our Summer Intern, Ella! 🌟

We are pleased to introduce Ella, who will be joining our team this summer as an intern. Ella is entering her senior year at Central College, where she is pursuing a double major in Accounting and Business Management with an emphasis in Finance.

Ella brings an eagerness to apply her academic knowledge to real-world accounting experience, and we are excited to have her with us this summer.

Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, spending time with family and friends, and her dog Rosco.

✨ Employee Spotlight: Megan Shook ✨

We're excited to shine a spotlight on Megan Shook, a valued member of the Pearson & Virlee, PC team!

Megan is a University of Iowa graduate with a B.A. in Public Accounting. She brought four tax seasons of experience with her when she joined the firm in November 2024 and has already made a strong impact — supporting business and individual tax return preparation and bookkeeping.

Megan is known for her strengths in harnessing technology and tax research, skills that reflect her commitment to growing as a professional and delivering great results for clients.

When she's not at work, Megan loves spending time with her fiancé, family, friends, and dog. You might find her out on a hiking trail, tending to her garden, crocheting, or cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Go Hawks! 🐾

We’re excited to share that the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group has been selected to receive the Main Street Iowa Program Identity Enhancement Technical Service Grant! This technical service, valued at $15,000, will support efforts to strengthen and elevate the identity, branding, and promotion of our Main Street district and community.

Out of Iowa’s accredited Main Street communities, only five communities statewide were selected through this competitive process, and Mount Vernon is honored to be one of them!

We’re grateful to Main Street Iowa for this opportunity, and we can’t wait to share more as this process begins!
