Hopefully everyone made it through the Spring Forward weekend!!! Yesterday was fast paced at the office and we are definitely hitting the busy part of the season.

Did you celebrate a new baby in 2025? If so, Congratulations!!!! Also, it is very important to tell your tax preparer. Not only do you potentially qualify for the Child Tax Credit but an additional form can be filed to set up a Trump account for your child and have the government fund with $1,000!

Did you buy a new car in 2025? If so, be on the lookout for a statement from your lender showing the interest paid. The OBBB allows you claim that interest on your tax return this year!!

Retirees - make sure to claim the additional senior deduction if you fall under the income threshold. It could mean up to an additional $6000 per individual off taxable income.

Announced today that Monday, Jan 26th ends the “blackout” period (systems being updated) and that e-filing officially begins for the 2025 season!!!
As always - no appointment is needed! Simply stop by our office when you have your documents ready to file. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

The OBBBA brought a few tax changes for 2025.

It is IMPORTANT to SAVE your last pay stub from 2025!
One of the new federal income tax deductions is for a portion of qualified overtime pay. The benefit covers overtime pay earned Jan 1- Dec 31 2025 and claimed when filing your 2025 tax return.
You can deduct the premium portion of your overtime pay (the "half" in "time-and-a-half" compensation) from your taxable income - up to $12,500 per person if your taxable income doesnt exceed $150k single/$300k MFJ.
BUT the official W2 form was not updated for 2025 to include a specific box for overtime pay so you must be able to provide this amount.
Easiest way will be from your last paycheck stub to show the overtime portion of your wages. The paycheck stub must be dated in 2025.
