Just a quick announcement - If anyone still requires assistance with tax filings, REGARDLESS of your tax situation, I’m just a DM away. No question is too minor; I’m here to assist you!

Unfortunately, you cannot submit a formal tax extension request after the April 15 deadline. If you missed it, make sure to file your return as soon as possible to lessen any penalties. An extension allows you until October 15 to submit your paperwork, but it does not provide extra time to pay, as taxes were due on April 15.

✔️File your return right away to minimize failure-to-file penalties, which are generally 5% of the unpaid taxes each month.

✔️If you are expecting a refund, there is no penalty for late filing, but keep in mind that you won’t receive your refund until you file.

For the 2026 U.S. federal tax filing season (for tax year 2025 returns):

The IRS will begin accepting and processing individual tax returns on January 26, 2026. That’s when e-filing and paper filing officially open for most individual taxpayers.
