BREAKING‼️

2018 Tax Filing Season Begins Jan. 29, 2018‼️‼️Tax Returns Due April 17‼️

Help Available for Taxpayers
The Internal Revenue Service announced today that the nation’s tax season will begin Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 and reminded taxpayers claiming certain tax credits that refunds won’t be available before late February.

The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on Jan. 29, with nearly 155 million individual tax returns expected to be filed in 2018. The nation’s tax deadline will be April 17 this year – so taxpayers will have two additional days to file beyond April 15.

Many software companies and tax professionals will be accepting tax returns before Jan. 29 and then will submit the returns when IRS systems open. Although the IRS will begin accepting both electronic and paper tax returns Jan. 29, paper returns will begin processing later in mid-February as system updates continue. The IRS strongly encourages people to file their tax returns electronically for faster refunds.

The IRS set the Jan. 29 opening date to ensure the security and readiness of key tax processing systems in advance of the opening and to assess the potential impact of tax legislation on 2017 tax returns.

The IRS reminds taxpayers that, by law, the IRS cannot issue refunds claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) before mid-February. While the IRS will process those returns when received, it cannot issue related refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards starting on Feb. 27, 2018, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with the tax return.

The IRS also reminds taxpayers that they should keep copies of their prior-year tax returns for at least three years. Taxpayers who are using a tax software product for the first time will need their adjusted gross income from their 2016 tax return to file electronically. Taxpayers who are using the same tax software they used last year will not need to enter prior-year information to electronically sign their 2017 tax return. Using an electronic filing PIN is no longer an option. Taxpayers can visit IRS.gov/GetReady for more tips on preparing to file their 2017 tax return.

Happy New Year from L&L Taxes and Company!

Call or come in! Straight Self employed are welcomed to file now! If you have your W2s or need help downloading them, come on in now! We encourage early filing to prevent identity theft but please be aware you must report ALL of your income by providing all of your W2s to avoid unnecessary delays‼️‼️ The IRS is not promising to release any EITC refunds until late February to prevent releasing identity theft refunds and refunds reporting inaccurate amounts using the last check stub.

It's the season to give and my heart has always been bigger than my pockets!
Even the Internal Revenue Service thinks it's better to give than to receive — at least the IRS gives you a tax break for giving. Donations to qualified charities are considered tax deductible expenses so they can reduce your taxable income, lowering your tax bill.

Not everyone can deduct their charitable contributions, however. You must itemize your tax deductions to claim any charitable donation, and this is typically only in your best interest if the total of all your itemized deductions exceeds the amount of the standard deduction you would receive for your filing status.

You may deduct a maximum of up to 50% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) (Line 36 on IRS Form 1040) for the tax year the donation was given. However, if you give more than 50%, the excess may be carried forward for up to five years.

With one more tax day left in the year. Now is the time to give and donate to your favorite charities and organizations! I personally like to give to my local and favorite churches and ministries. Below are just a couple of worldwide ministries I also like to give to that I know strive to reach every corner of the world! No matter where your heart leads you to give, make sure you collect your receipts for your records to qualify for the deduction.

Hold your horses guys! You may not see those extra credits and deductions until the next tax year‼️‼️‼️

Americans won't feel the effect of tax reform until 2019. ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Senate and House Republicans reached an agreement on their final tax bill on Wednesday.
If President Donald Trump signs it before the end of the year, the new tax plan will take effect on January 1, 2018.
Americans won't see the change to their tax returns until spring 2019 - when they file taxes for 2018. ‼️‼️‼️‼️

If Republicans pass their tax plan by the end of the year, it will go into effect on January 1. But Americans won't feel the effect of tax reform until 2019.
