I'm so glad to see local organizations are bringing visibility to the hardships being experienced by small business owners. Small businesses represent the livelihood of many in our community, keep local economies afloat and mitigate our reliance on big corporations.

Durante los últimos días, nuestra comunidad se ha visto afectada por las detenciones del ICE en toda el área metropolitana de las Ciudades Gemelas. Se han reportado numerosos arrestos en estacionamientos o justo afuera de negocios latinos como Alborada Market o Hola Arepa
Los negocios se enfrentan al dilema moral y ético de cómo proceder. ¿Dónde está el equilibrio entre informar a nuestros clientes y a la comunidad sobre lo sucedido para que puedan tomar decisiones informadas sobre los lugares a los que desean ir, y generar pánico y afectar aún más la situación económica de nuestra comunidad, que ya de por sí atraviesa dificultades?

Algunas personas les piden que cierren sus negocios para proteger a sus clientes, otras piden que compartan informacion y cuando esa informacion no encaja con la espectativa, los acusan de ocultar detalles por avaricia.

Esto está afectando gravemente el bienestar de nuestra comunidad y creando animosidad cuando deberíamos estar unidos y ser más fuertes juntos.

Me encantaría escuchar sus opiniones respetuosas y constructivas sobre el tema para poder compartirlas con los pequeños empresarios que están luchando por encontrar la mejor manera de actuar.

Over the last few days, our community has grappled with the ICE detainments all over the twin cities. There have been many reports of these arrests taking place in parking lots or right outside Latino business such as Alborada Market or Hola Arepa.
Businesses are left with the moral and ethical dilemma of how to proceed. Where is the balance between informing or customers and community of what happened so they can make informed decisions about the areas they want to go to, and creating panic and further affecting the economic outlook of our already struggling community?
Some people ask them to close their businesses to protect their clients, others share information that is inaccurate and when owners try to share their version of events they are accused of greediness. This is taking such a big toll on the wellbeing of our community and creating animosity when we should be united and stronger together.
I'd love to hear your respectful and constructive thought on the matter so I can share them with the small business owners who are struggling to figure out the best course of action!
