January is ending which means those W2s should be coming! Call for your appointments!

This year comes with some big changes: higher standard deductions, a boosted Child Tax Credit, expanded state and local tax deductions, and new breaks for tips, overtime, and even car loan interest which could mean larger refunds!

The IRS is phasing out paper refund checks, so direct deposit is now the fastest (and safest) way to get your money typically within 21 days. Certain credits like EITC (earned income tax credit) and Child Tax Credit may take longer to arrive.

What’s the Difference between an EA and a CPA?
As a business owner, understanding the roles of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Enrolled Agent (EA) can help you make better financial decisions.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant):
▪️ Requires 150 hours of college education (often includes a master’s)
▪️ Must pass a rigorous CPA exam
▪️ Licensed by the state (not nationwide)
▪️ Can provide audits, financial certifications, business valuations & more
▪️ Best for complex financial needs, but may cost more

EA (Enrolled Agent):
▪️ No formal education required
▪️ Must pass a 3-part IRS exam (or qualify via IRS work experience)
▪️ Federally licensed – can work in all 50 states
▪️ Specializes in taxes & IRS representation
▪️ Cost-effective for tax services

Which one do you need?
If you need certified financials or high-level business advice, a CPA is the way to go.
If you’re focused on taxes and IRS matters, an EA might be your best bet.
