Do you have a clear understanding of your parents’ financial situation? Without one, adult children can unknowingly put their own financial security at risk.

I hear it all the time: “I can’t talk to my parents about money—they get upset.”

But let me be honest with you: if you’re 50 or 60, this isn’t a conversation you can keep avoiding like you’re 5 or 6. I’m not saying it’s easy—but it is essential.

So how do you begin? Use me as your excuse. Seriously. Try starting with something like:

"Mom? Dad? I’ve been reading A+ Services/Leigh’s advice and posts protecting my financial future, and they say we need to have this conversation. It’s not about inheritance—it's about making sure you’re okay, and that we have a plan as a family. Have you thought about whether your income will support you long-term? Have you made plans in case you need help managing your finances? If not, I’d like to help you get started."

These conversations can be difficult—but they are necessary. They’re about love, respect, and protecting everyone’s financial future.
