Just for fun, and because I’m curious – what’s your sign?

For example, I’m a Pisces ♓

What about you? What’s your sign and horoscope? 🔮

(I know, I know, this horoscope stuff isn’t for everyone – but I think it’s fun!)

♓ Apparently as a Pisces, this means that I’m supposed to be highly creative and imaginative (I'm not sure those are my strongest traits, lol)

♓ According to Astroyogi.com, my horoscope for the day says 'you need to remain motivated and confident to overcome any roadblock that may come your way today. Redefine every step and get smart as the Moon remains in Gemini. This transit would bring you some positive energy.'

♓ And my horoscope for 2023 says " Pisceans can look forward to a prosperous year because of a good start. Yearly astrological predictions says, the New Year is likely to bring many advantageous possibilities for concluding lucrative business transactions." Sounds exciting!

What about you? What’s your sign, and your horoscope for the day? 😄

I know – the tax deadline has passed and you’re thinking, “Hallelujah I can STOP thinking about taxes!!” 🙌

But before you put this year’s tax season in the rearview mirror 🚗 🌬️

Let’s talk about it one more time, while it's still fresh.

By answering these 4 "brain-dump" questions about this year's tax season:

(𝟭) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲? Like:

❌ Forgetting quarterly taxes
❌ Late 1099 docs
❌ Not tracking business mileage

(𝟮) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹? Like:

🧘🏻‍♀️ Procrastinating
🧘🏻‍♀️ Hired the cheapest bookkeeper
🧘🏻‍♀️ Late fees

(𝟯) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗯𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱? Like:

📎 1099 and/or W2 forms
📎 Health insurance papers
📎 Expense receipts

(𝘚𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦: 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘢𝘹 𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸!)

(𝟰) 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿? Like:

🏡 Buying a house
🐣 Having a baby
🤑 A higher tax bracket

Now, take your answers, and organize it these 5 simple ways:

✅ 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧: All your questions for him
✅ 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦: A checklist of docs + data you’ll need
✅ 𝗧𝗢-𝗗𝗢 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧: Include due dates + frequency
✅ 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦: What could you do differently?
✅ 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗥: Add deadline reminders to your calendar

And if you want more helpful info to help you prep for next year, there's a helpful link in the comments below 👇

Hopefully that helps! Now - what about you? On a scale of 1-10, how painful was your tax season this year?

Was it overwhelming? 😬 If so – no worries! Just reach out ❤️

I LOVE helping my clients get easily prepped for taxes with way less effort (and stress). And I’d love to help you, too!

What’s the chore you 𝙃𝘼𝙏𝙀 the most?

Laundry? 🧺 Dish-washing? 🍽️ Taking out the trash?

For me, it’s DEFINITELY laundry, because it's never-ending.

Now other chores, like washing dishes or straightening up,

Those aren’t so bad

(In fact, I kinda like watching the birds from the window while I'm washing dishes)

But laundry??

I’d rather stick a fork in my eye 🍴

But, unfortunately, someone’s gotta do it – or else no one would have anything to wear, right?

It’s the same thing in our businesses

Just like in our personal lives, we have business “chores”, like:

📱 Writing posts for social media

💸 Paying your vendors’ bills on time

📧 Replying to client emails

(Personally my LEAST favorite “business chore” is marketing)

But for you – that business chore you HATE the most might be bookkeeping

And maybe - just like me and laundry - you'd rather stick a fork in your eye than open Quickbooks or reconcile your bank statements

But still, ya gotta get it done – or you’ll end up with some nasty financial consequences 💰

Consequences that are the financial equivalent of an overflowing garbage can 🤢

Consequences like:

🤢 Paying unnecessary fees for overdrafts and late payments, or

🤢 Missing out on opportunities – because you needed to update your (way outdated) finances before you could get that crucial loan

But here’s the good news:

𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙩

Remember that chore I hate?

Sometimes I get my husband or kids to do it for me 😜

I don’t need to be the one who does the laundry

All that matters is that SOMEONE does it (and does it well)

So -

If bookkeeping for your business makes you want to stick a fork in your eye 🍴

Then just reach out ❤️

This happens to be my all-time favorite “business chore” 🤓

And I’d love to help you can get back to the work you actually *like* to do 😉

What was your first job? 🤔

Mine was dog walker at Molly's Country Kennels.

I was 13 at the time, I only made about $5 an hour, and wanted spending money.

Being an animal lover, I LOVED the job. But I did not enjoy the people I worked with as most would lie about whether or not they actually walked the dogs or spent time with the cats.

I worked there for about a year.

Not the most glamorous of positions, of course 😂 but it worked until I got my next job at Merrymead Farm, scooping ice cream, working in the farm store & produce stand/seasonal stands and eventually managing the stores. I LOVED that job and the people!

Now - what about you?

How old were you when you started your first job? And what was the job?

Is your small business’ bookkeeping ready for the federal tax deadline on April 18th?

If you’re not sure, here’s 5 quick questions to help you spot “red flags”:

🚩 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀? 😬

Mixing personal with business expenses is a BIG no-no! Keep them separate – and categorize all personal expenses as “owner’s draw”

🚩 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀? 📉

For loans and liabilities, this is ok. But in your assets, this is a red flag that usually indicates mistakes!

🚩 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 - 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 + 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀? ⏰

Run two reports, “Customer Balance” and “Vendor Balance”. If you’ve got a lot of invoices +90 days past due, double-check to see if they’re 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 unpaid, or just need updated!

🚩 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁? 🔁

Pick a regularly recurring vendor, like Uber. Are all your Uber charges in the same expense category?

🚩 𝗟𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 “𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱” 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀? 🤔

On your Chart of Accounts, check these accounts:

(1) “Uncategorized Income”
(2) “Uncategorized Expenses”
(3) “Miscellaneous”
(4) “Ask my Accountant”

If you have a lot of transactions in there, your records are probably out of date – and you’ll need to get them in the right expense categories.

All pretty easy to check, right? (BTW I’ve also attached an article with more helpful info about this!)

What about you? After reading this, do you feel like your business is tax-ready? … Or not? 😬

But I get it – maybe fumbling with financial reports just doesn’t sound like your idea of a good time. 😉 (Especially if your records are extra-chaotic!)

No problem! If you need an expert pair of eyes to help out, just reach out! ♥️ I handle this stuff all the time for my clients. And I’d love to help you, too!

“You know what, on second thought, I think I’m going to try and do it by myself for now,” they say. “That quote is just too high for me.”

How many times have you heard this from a potential client who *almost* hired you?

It’s frustrating, right? Because you want them to understand how much “saving money” is REALLY going to cost them:

⏰ 𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘

As an experienced expert, you can do the work faster than they can!

🤯 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 + 𝗙𝗥𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

After YEARS of hands-on experience, you know exactly how to avoid all the pot-holes – but they don’t, which makes for a bumpy ride

🤬 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦

You’ve already made ALL the mistakes – and learned from them! But, on their own, they’ll have to go through making ALL those mistakes AND all the consequences of those mistakes

💰 𝗙𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦

You also know that every hour they spend DIYing their bookkeeping is one less hour billed-out. And, in the end, they lose more money than they were trying to “save”!

Guess what? This is EXACTLY how I feel about you in my bookkeeping business ❤️

⏰ I 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 how many hours it takes you to keep up with bookkeeping
🤯 I 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 how frustrating it is to learn Quickbooks when you aren’t a numbers person
🤬 I 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 all of the fines and tax consequences of getting your bookkeeping wrong
💰 And I 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 how many billable (and weekend) hours you’ll lose trying to fight with unfamiliar software and confusing financial regulations

I 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 how much more time and money I can give you

Just like you 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 how your expertise is worth every penny you charge your clients 😉

So in the same way you help your clients – let me help you.

Let me help you bill more, stress less, and just focus on your business. Just like you do for all your clients, too! ❤️

Just reach out and schedule a call today – let’s get you out of the stressful DIY trap, and back into the heart of your business where you belong.

Still scrambling to finish up your taxes on time? 😬

In your rush to file on time – make sure that you don’t make one of these common (and easily avoidable) mistakes!

First – here’s some of the documents and information you’ll need:

☑️ Last year’s tax return

☑️ Your social security card and official business docs

☑️ All your tax documents from 2022

☑️ Your bank account information

Now grab your tax return for this year and double-check these 7 common mistakes:

(𝟭) 𝗜𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆?

(𝟮) 𝗗𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵?

Make sure your numbers on your tax return match the numbers on your 2022 tax documents

(𝟯) 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝘆 𝗜𝗗 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆?

Think SSN, bank account numbers, etc.

(𝟰) 𝗜𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱?

(𝟱) 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁?

Don’t skip over this one, even if you used auto-calculating tax software – !

(𝟲) 𝗜𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁?

(𝟳) 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀 + 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?

If you double-check those 7 things, you’ll be protecting yourself from some of the most common mistakes.

And if wanna go beyond this short post and do a little more detailed reading on this, I attached a helpful article from Forbes in the comments below 👇

Now - what about you? Have you already filed your taxes – or are you still finishing them up?

And, of course, if you feel overwhelmed and have any questions about your business finances – then just reach out ❤️

I always help my clients easily file their taxes correctly and on time – and I’d love to do the same for you, too!

(Or, depending on your situation, at least help you file an extension first – and THEN get your finances tax-ready! 😜 )

Do you remember pulling all-nighters back in school? 🌛

Remember how that happened?

😬 At the beginning of the semester, you had good intentions

😬 But you missed 1 lecture – and then 1 lecture turned into 3 …

😬 And suddenly it's finals week - and you’re trying to cram a whole semester into a single stressful night of studying

And, of course, you SWEAR you’ll do it differently next time

… Buttttt then you repeat the same cycle next semester

😬 😬 😬

𝗡𝗼𝘄, 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 - 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿

(That April 18th federal tax deadline came up quick this year, didn’t it??)

𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 … 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺

😬 After last year’s painful tax season, you planned to do better this year

😬 Buttttt summer is always your busiest season, and you traveled a lot over the holidays …

😬 Then suddenly, it was March 1st - and you realized you stopped saving receipts back in June of 2022

😬 And now you’re trying to cram in 12 months of financial work into a few hectic days

Aaaand suddenly your taxes this year are a dumpster fire (AGAIN) 🔥

Here's the good news about next year:

𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 *𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵* 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘺𝘰𝘶

𝙎𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙊 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧

All it takes is two minutes and a single email or DM to get started 👇

So if you want your next year's finances to be effortlessly tax-ready

(Instead of a panicked last-minute dumpster-fire all-nighter, like this year 😬)

Just reach out ❤️

Future-you will thank you! 😉

Feeling the crunch and thinking of filing an extension for your business taxes? ⏰

Here’s what you need to know 👇

👉 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧’𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗨𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡?

For Partnerships + S-corps: 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, and extends filing to Sept 15, 2023

For Self-Employed, Sole Proprietor, and C-Corps: 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, and extends filing to Oct 16, 2023

👉 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠(𝗦) 𝗗𝗢 𝗜 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗?

IRS Form 4868 - Self-employed or a Sole Proprietor
IRS Form 7004 - Partnership, S-corp or C-corp

👉 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗗𝗢 𝗜 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗜𝗧?

You can file the extension electronically or by mail.

You can file online through the free IRS payment portal, and through most tax software tools.

👉 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗡 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗔𝗫 𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧?

Your tax 𝙥𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 is still due in March/April, even if you extend your 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 deadline to Sept/Oct.

👉 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗔𝗫𝗘𝗦, 𝗧𝗢𝗢?

Nope – you’ll need to ask your local Secretary of State about the procedure and file separately.

👉 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦?

Yes! There are a few scenarios that give an automatic 6-month extension on both filing AND payment of taxes (like living and working abroad, etc).

👉 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗜 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘?

Just check out the comments below 👇 I added a link to a super-helpful blog

I hope that helps!

Don’t worry - I promise, it’s a simple process.

And, of course, if you feel overwhelmed and need some help with the filing process – then just reach out ❤️

Over the years, I’ve helped a LOT of small business file a last-minute extension 😉 And I’d love to help you, too!
