On June 19, 1865 — 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation — enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free.

That day became Juneteenth: a celebration of liberation long overdue, a reminder that freedom, once it truly arrives, changes everything.

It also makes you think about the freedoms we're still working toward today.

For a lot of women, financial freedom is one of them.
