October is officially in the books! But are your books ready for November?

Before you get too far into the new month, take a few minutes to check in on your business finances.

💚 Reconcile your accounts. Make sure your bank and credit card transactions are recorded and everything balances.

💚 Review unpaid invoices. Are there any outstanding customer payments that need a friendly follow-up?

💚 Check upcoming bills. Know what's coming due so you can plan ahead.

💚 Review your Profit & Loss. How did October compare to September? Anything surprising?

💚 Clean up loose ends. Resolve uncategorized transactions, missing receipts, and anything you've been meaning to investigate.

With year-end approaching, a little attention now can save you a lot of headaches later!

You don't have to tackle everything at once. Even 15–20 minutes spent reviewing your books is a step in the right direction.

Here's to heading into November feeling a little more organized and a lot more confident!

Your Profit & Loss statement is more than just the number at the bottom.

It's easy to glance at your P&L, see whether you made a profit, and move on.

But there's so much more your numbers can tell you!

💚 Is your revenue growing, but your profit staying the same?
💚 Are certain expenses creeping up month after month?
💚 Are your busiest months actually your most profitable?
💚 Are you spending money in ways that support your business goals?

Your P&L isn't just about knowing whether you made money. It's about understanding why and using that information to make better business decisions.

Quick tip: Next time you review your P&L, compare it to the previous month. Look for one thing that changed and ask yourself what might be driving it.

Sometimes the most valuable insights come from asking a few simple questions!

Ever opened your Profit & Loss statement in QuickBooks and wondered what all those numbers are actually telling you?

You're not alone! And the good news is, you don't need to be an accountant to understand your business finances.

Your Profit & Loss statement is one of the most valuable tools you have as a business owner, but only if you know how to use it.

In my latest blog post, I break it all down in plain English, including:

💚 What the different sections of your P&L actually mean
💚 How to tell if your business is making money
💚 What to look for beyond the bottom line
💚 How to use your numbers to make better business decisions

Because your financial reports should do more than just help you file your taxes. They should help you understand your business and make decisions with confidence.

IF YOUR BOOKS AREN’T WHERE YOU WANT THEM TO BE, NOW IS THE TIME.

Maybe you started the year determined to stay on top of your bookkeeping.

And then... you got busy running the actual business.

A few transactions went uncategorized. One month didn’t get reconciled. Receipts piled up. Then another month passed, and suddenly opening QuickBooks started feeling like something you’d rather avoid altogether.

If that sounds familiar, you still have time to turn things around before year-end.

We’re at the beginning of Q4. You don’t have to wait until January and tackle an entire year’s worth of cleanup all at once.

Start small.

✓ Get your bank and credit card accounts reconciled
✓ Work through uncategorized or questionable transactions
✓ Review outstanding invoices and bills
✓ Make sure your income and expenses are landing where they belong
✓ Look at your year-to-date reports and see if the numbers actually make sense

You don’t have to fix everything in one afternoon.

A little progress each week between now and December can make a huge difference when year-end and tax season arrive.

And more importantly, you’ll finish the year with a much clearer picture of how your business actually performed.

Behind on your books doesn’t have to mean staying behind.

Q4 is a pretty good time to start catching up.
