I am grateful for another season coaching my son's baseball team and watching my daughter play for the first time! It isn't lost on me all the life lessons you can learn from the baseball diamond:

1. You succeed by showing up and stepping in the box. Nothing happens if the pitcher doesn't throw the ball. You have to start, you have to take action.

2. You can still be successful even if you don't succeed every time. 300 batting average is great, but you failed 70% of the time. Just because you fail, doesn't mean you are a failure.

3. You need to have a short memory. You strike out, and you still have to pick up your glove and make the next out. If you are carrying your past failure with you, you can’t be in the moment and show up and be your best.

4. Confidence is key. If you have a mindset of "I'm screwed. This dude is throwing gas" you won't do well…. If you are thinking "please don't hit the ball to me" and the ball comes your way, you won't be ready, and you'll miss it. Confidence doesn't guarantee success, but being unconfident, timid, or scared does guarantee failure.

5. It takes a team. In baseball, you may only have 3 or 4 at bats, there are 8 other hitters, 8 other players in the field. In life, you need to be surrounded by great people who can support and encourage you.

My team's mission is to provide clarity for an intentional future.

As I reflected on operating with intention on the things that are important in my personal life, having more time with my family while my kids are young was at the top of my list.

This why, for the last 5 years, I have taken Friday’s off in the summer.

Finding clarity on what's important has empowered me to make intentional choices to ACT on what's important.

Today is the first Friday of summer for our family, excited to spend Fridays with them this summer!

Why do small business owners need to make defensive planning a strategic part of their financial plan?

This Memorial Day, we are pausing to remember what the day truly means.

While we will still gather with family and friends, fire up the grill, and enjoy a beautiful long weekend, we are intentionally finding time to reflect on the deeper purpose of this day: honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted.

For many owners, the business is the plan.

Working with business owners, clarity is key.

Having a clear view of not only their vision for the future but their “why” provides clarity for when times get hard and decisions get complex.

Having a clear picture of what worries them allows protections to be put in place to alleviate avoidable risks.
