April 20 Deadline to Amend 2022 Tax Returns
April 20, 2026, is generally the last day to file an amended 2022 tax return. Individual taxpayers can use Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Tax Return, to correct errors, claim missed deductions or adjust income reported on the original return. The IRS generally allows taxpayers three years from the original filing deadline or two years from the date the tax was paid, whichever is later, to file an amendment.
