🚨 PATH ACT UPDATE – LET’S CLEAR THIS UP 🚨

There has been a lot of confusion, so here are the FACTS:

The law says refunds that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) cannot be released before February 15.

In 2026:
• February 15 fell on a Sunday
• February 16 was Presidents’ Day (bank holiday)
• That means practical processing begins the next BUSINESS day

👉 Today is February 17.
This is when the IRS system begins moving those PATH refunds.

Now let’s be clear:

✔ The IRS system is computerized.
✔ There is no person manually updating everyone at the same time.
✔ Not everyone will update or receive funds on the same day.

Just because the IRS office was closed for the holiday does NOT mean the law didn’t lift. The PATH hold is a legal requirement — not a front desk switch someone flips.

Here’s what to expect:

📌 Transcript updates and “Refund Issued” codes (846) will start appearing in waves.
📌 Banks may take 1–3 days after IRS release to post funds.
📌 The largest federal funding dates are projected for 2/23 and 2/25.
📌 Most PATH filers without additional review issues should see funding by early March (around March 6).

If you filed early and claimed EITC or ACTC:
• Seeing the PATH message before today was NORMAL.
• Updates begin rolling out now.
• Everyone will NOT lift at the same time.

We do not control the IRS system.
We report what the law says and what historically happens each year.

Money is starting to move. Be patient and avoid comparing timelines with others.

Due to current IRS system glitches, some refund advance loans are being denied even for clients who would normally qualify it’s also giving us error messages stating the client filed somewhere else

For this reason, please do not be in a rush to send off your file today, if you file today wait until the glitch is rectified to Transmit Return! Waiting until the system stabilizes will help avoid unnecessary delays or loan denials.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these issues are resolved.

LET’S TALK REFUND ADVANCES FOR REAL ESPECIALLY SELF-EMPLOYEED CLIENTS📚💰

A refund advance is a bank product
It is NOT guaranteed money
It is based on risk and verif**ation

Here’s what the bank actually looks at 👇🏽

📂 Your tax return must be accepted
🆔 Your identity must verify clean
📊 Your income has to make sense year over year
📉 Major income drops can lower or deny advances
📑 Prior issues with advances matter
⏳ Early season limits are smaller on purpose

Your preparer does not control the amount!
Your preparer does not approve the advance!
The bank does, that’s why two people can file the same day and have completely different outcomes.

🚨 HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD vs SINGLE READ THIS BEFORE YOU ARGUE WHEN I TELL YOU TO FILE SINGLE🚨

This is IRS-based, not opinion.

🏠 To qualify for Head of Household (HOH) you must:

✅ Be unmarried
✅ Have a qualifying person live with you more than half the year
✅ Pay MORE THAN 50% of the total household expenses

📌 There is NO minimum income requirement for HOH
📌 The IRS cares about MATH + PROOF, not feelings

🧾 Household expenses the IRS counts:

✔️ Rent/mortgage
✔️ Utilities
✔️ Food eaten in the home
✔️ Home insurance/property taxes

❌ Personal expenses (car note, phone, hair, clothes, etc.) do NOT count

🔍 REAL-LIFE SCENARIO (MAKE IT MAKE SENSE)

💬 “I made $20,000 and have 3 dependents. Am I HOH?”

👉🏾Income and dependents alone do NOT decide HOH.

📊 $20,000 income ≈ $1,667/month
🏠 Rent $1,400
💡 Utilities $300
🍽️ Food $600
➡️ Household costs ≈ $2,300+/month

❓The IRS will ask: HOW did you pay more than half?

If:
• Housing assistance
• SNAP
• Family help
• Shared bills

…paid part of those costs, that part does NOT count as you paying it.

➡️ If the math doesn’t add up, HOH does not apply, even with dependents.

🔁 WHY A PREPARER MAY CHANGE HOH TO SINGLE

🚩 Filing HOH incorrectly is a major audit trigger
✔️ A preparer must file what is defensible, not what’s preferred
✔️ This protects you from audits, penalties, and repayments

🧠 BOTTOM LINE

Head of Household is proven, not chosen.

If you can’t show how you paid more than half, the IRS will say Single period.

📌 Refund advances are available through March, so there’s no need to rush with partial information.
