Taxpayers 🗣Listen up‼️

Those of you that have filed 2019, 2020 or 2021 tax returns and have mailed them in, it will be a longer than usual wait time due to The Internal Revenue Service facing an even bigger backlog for this tax season than it did a year ago, with delays creating "unprecedented financial difficulties". The delays in processing paper returns have been running six months to one year, and taxpayers are experiencing longer wait times on the telephone. the IRS had a backlog of 21.3 million unprocessed paper tax returns for businesses and individuals. That's an increase of 1.3 million over the same time last year.

Because of how long paper returns take to process, "taxpayers who file paper returns requesting a refund in 2019, 2020 and 2021 will have to wait longer to receive their refunds, Please be patient in this matter and do not re-mail the tax return. It will only delay the first mailed return even longer. This goes for amended returns as well.

Things to keep in mind:

The American Rescue Plan money that’s starting in July is an advance on half of the child tax credit for tax year 2021. Which means Families will get the other half when they file their 2021 taxes next year. Or they can opt out of this prepayment and get the full credit next year.

Your Tax refunds will not be as big as they would normally be unless you opt out of the prepayment now. If you opt out now, you will see full results for 2021 tax season if you meet the bracket.
